July’s Star Product

I am going to start off this post by saying the hype is SO real on the new L’oreal mascara.
All the beauty gurus are talking about Lash Paradise mascara and it’s well deserved.

As always I was a little skeptical about the hype. When a product gets so much buzz in the beauty universe I always wonder is everyone talking about it because it’s good or are they talking about it because everyone else is?

So, I marched myself to Target and purchased the Lash Paradise and I have two words for you- HOLY VOLUME! The wand on this mascara reminds me of the popular Too Faced Better Than Sex mascara. I was always a fan of the Too Faced mascaras volume, but Lash Paradise has taken it to another level. It gives you the length you need and the volume you always desired. There are zero flakes, zero smudging just beautiful lashes all day long.
I highly recommend you head to the closest drug store and grab one…or two.

This is hands down my star product for the month of July, it hasn’t left my lashes yet! Some other products I have been pairing with the Lash Paradise is the Jaclyn Hill palette by Morphe. I promise you if you purchase this eye shadow palette you will not need another one in your life. IT HAS IT ALL! ( seriously, no exaggeration) I also enjoyed some podcasts during the month of July. I have a really long commute to work and podcasts are the only things that keep me sane. If you are a beauty lover you need to listen to Fat Mascara it has all the beauty tips and tricks you need + some interesting interviews!

What was your star product in the month of July? Leave me some suggestions down below

New Makeup Obessions

The past month I have been purchasing A LOT of new makeup. I had an urge this month to amp things up and get out of my comfort zone. Spring time is approaching and it was time to switch up my makeup routine!

The first new product that blew me away was the new Glossier Cloud Paints. I am usually intimidated by cream or liquid blushes but these cloud paints proved me wrong. You only need the tiniest amount and you can blend it out with your fingers or stippling brush and it gives the most beautiful flush of color and it dries down to a powder so no need to set it! I have the shade Dusk, it is a deep mauve shade that you can also add to your cheek bones for some added definition. As we speak the shade haze is in my shopping cart- I NEED THEM ALL.

Keeping on the train of cheeks the new Pixi + ASPYNOVARD collab came out with some BEAUTIFUL highlighters. I snagged the shade Santorini Sunset at my local target and for a drugstore highlighter, it is gorgeous. It blends out seamlessly no chunky glitters just a beautiful sheen on the top of your cheekbones. I advise you to run, don’t walk to your nearest target and snag it because they are going. This product will definitely be a staple for me this upcoming spring and summer.
Lastly, for eyes, I have left behind my coveted concealer and decided to try the new NARS soft matte complete concealer. I read awesome reviews on this product but I was nervous when I found out it was a pot concealer since those tend to be more drying and heavy, but I was proven wrong when I stopped in at Sephora and swatched it. This concealer gives awesome coverage while still leaving a natural finish to the skin. It has quickly become my go-to concealer for under the eyes and spot concealing. I am in the shade vanilla and I am in LOVE!
I also have been loving listening to podcast lately. Fast mascara is my newest beauty podcast obsession it is so entertaining + offers a lot of information. Women of The Hour is another great listen it is hosted by Lena Dunham and she interviews some pretty powerful women.

What are your current obsessions?

e.l.f. High Definition Powder

13963729 Alright, everyone breaking news  baking is no longer just for the kitchen you can now bake your face! I know, crazy right let me explain.

There are constantly new beauty trends on how to make your makeup look better and extend its longevity. These trends go viral and then I test them out and let you all know what I think, great system right? Sometimes the trends wow me , sometimes they are a total fluke. This time, I’m wowed!

So this “baking” technique is basically getting any loose setting powder of your choice  and putting the powder on a sponge or brush (sponges work best in my opinion) put a little more product that you normally would and dab the product anywhere you want to highlight or set in place such as under the eyes , beneath the counter or bridge of the nose.  Then leave the powder for 1-2 min this is the “baking part” and then brush away the excess powder and
wa-la! You will have a flawlessly set face.

I thought this technique was a joke so I never gave it a fair shot, I thought it was just an extra step that I didn’t need in my makeup routine but I was wrong. I have always struggled with my under eye concealer creasing no matter how great the concealer or how quickly I would set it. Now when I use the ELF high definition setting powder and a makeup sponge and “bake” my under eyes I am crease free all day long.

The “baking”  technique leaves such a flawless finish and keeps you matte but not cakey. I dare you all to choose your favorite setting powder and start baking! You won’t be sorry.

Boy do I have a treat for you all. Butter London has a released amazing eye shadow palettes and you need them in your life pronto. Usually when a brand that is known for a specific product such as Butter London is with nail polishes I get nervous when they try to branch out with new products. But Butter London has nailed it in the eye shadow department.

The new Butter London Shadow Clutch Palette is a 10/10. The colors are buttery, extremely pigmented and very blendable. The palette comes with 6 shades, 3  matte shadows and 3 shimmer shadows. The shadows are infused with a primer so the longevity is awesome and is crease-free all day. The unique part of this  palette is it is interchangeable. You can slide the shadows out and mix and match the order and buy other eye shadows to switch out.

There are two palette choices , Natural Charm and Pretty Proper.
Natural Charm is more neutral, it has a deep brown matte, shimmer nudes and a beautiful shimmer forest green. The Pretty Proper is more cool tones it comes with blue grays and mid tone cool browns. The mattes are creamy and blendable and the shimmers have no fall out and are very opaque.  I wore this palette on Halloween night and my eye shadow did not budge, crease or smear all night.

Butter London also sells the Wardrobe Duos which are two shadows that are  sold separate from the palette that you may interchange in the palette.I recommend you get your hands on one of these Palettes. I have not put down the Natural Charm shadows since I have received it.

Blinc Black Lash Primer

black tube of mascara primer with wond

Let’s talk lashes. We all want long lashes , volume and curl am I right?
I have the answer for you all. The Blinc Black Lash Primer is the answer  to all your lash prayers. This was my first time trying a lash primer and I couldn’t belive my eyes.

I will admit I was blessed with long lashes but they do not stay curled and I have a  strong fear of eyelash curlers. This primer has solved that. This lash primer keeps my eyelashes curled from morning to-night. The wand is curved to curl & extend your lashes. And if you really want to step up your game use the Blinc Mascara  in combination with the primer and your lashes will be so long you could fly away.

There are no clumps, there is volume, length and curl its every mascara I have tried in two simple steps. I have become a mascara  primer believer.

Clarins Crayon Khol

green eye pencil
We are constantly hearing about “adding a pop of color” to our makeup looks to make them stand out more. Me personally I am neutral gal, color intermediates me. But I decided to branch out and try adding some color to my every day makeup routine. So I did my research to what colors would suit my eye color most (which is brown) and I decided on a deep forest green eye liner from Clarins.

I  wanted to take baby steps to adding color which is why I chose to do eye liner.  I kept the eye shadow very natural and then added the green very close to my last line and even winged it out a little bit. I will say this green made my eyes POP! The dark forest green made my brown eyes lighten up  and become more soft.

Not only did the eye look work out but the product I used for achieving the look was awesome. I usually stick with liquid eye liner because of its longevity and pigment. But this wooden tip pencil surprised me. It is extremely creamy and the pigment really packs a punch for a pencil.

If you’re looking to add a pop of color this up coming fall – this pencil is your answer.

NYX Proof it! Eyeshadow Primer

white tube of eye shadow primer

Alright, confession time.

I never use eyeshadow primer. I always use my concealer to cancel out any veins, even my skin tone and just hope for the best. But lately I have been trying to do more unique eye shadow looks and I was getting frustrated because my shadows were not lasting throughout the day.

So, I did my research and headed to Ulta to try the NYX Proof it! Eyeshadow Primer. My eyelids will never be the same after using this primer. For the first time in my makeup career, I went out with friends and at the end of the night my eyeshadow looked the exact same as when I left my house. Crazy!

The NYX primer is transparent, but it has a slightly tacky consistency so the shadows can stick to the base and not budge. And on top of it all, it’s adorable!

If you’re looking to make those shimmer shadows pop and last all night long, give the NYX Proof it! Eyeshadow Primer a try. You won’t be sorry.

Dupe Alert!

Retractable eye brow pencil with a spoolie atattachedRetractable eye brown pencil with a spoolie on the opposite end

We all love a good dupe don’t we, especially when they help us save money right?!
I have been using the Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Wiz for my eyebrows for about 6 months now and it is amazing but something better and cheaper has come along.

The makeup brand NYX came out with their own micro brow pencil and i honestly cannot tell a difference between the two.

NYX is a drug store brand and can be found at CVS and Ulta and is half the price of the  Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Wiz and you come out with he same results! Both have a spoolie on one side and a retractable pencil on the other and the product feels the same!

It Cosmetics Build-A-Brow

Small pot of eye brow tinted gel in the color ash brown
The new It Cosmetics Build-A-Brow Waterproof 5-In-1 Micro-Fiber Crème Stain has been on my eyebrows daily. This is a pomade product used to fill in and shape  your eyebrows. I naturally have very dark brows so i am careful with what products i used so i don’t have too intense looking brows.

This product fills them in very naturally and too harsh + does not budge .
It comes in 5 different shades , i use the color universal taupe which isn’t too ashy or too warm. I apply this with the It cosmetics build a brow brush but any angled brush will work!

This pomade has changed my eyebrow life.
